We create luxury timber framed houses using only high quality natural materials. By utilising the Baufritz process, clients can design and create their self build to their exact requirements. By using a manufacturing process, houses are created more quickly and to millimetre accuracy.

Our Design options 

The Baufritz process means we can deliver all elements of your building project. You will meet with our specialist consultant to discuss your requirements. Our experienced house designers will then prepare plans for you and submit a planning application on your behalf. Detailed drawings will be put together, including the calculations for the groundworks, structure and building services. You will be invited to come to our state of the art design centre where you will specify the details of your house, ready for manufacture.

Your construction choices 

Our high-tech manufacturing process enables us to deliver a wide variety of house designs, construction materials and finishes. You will be able to choose all the interior and exterior design details during your consultation process, with tailored support from our experts who understand timber framed houses. We are specialists in sustainable building techniques creating environmentally friendly and healthier low carbon homes. 

Contract scope 

The Baufritz process enables peace of mind in knowing that a fixed price and timescale has been agreed early on. Our quote reflects your requirements, and our range of options allows for this tailored approach. We can supply the shell only, where we deliver the walls, floors and roof. Alternatively, our turnkey solution includes the shell construction and complete interior fittings.

Baufritz have established themselves as one of the top ecological timber frame house manufacturers in Europe.   We have over a hundred years’ experience in the German market and have been in the UK for over fifteen years. Our houses are constructed using natural local materials, sourced from the sustainable forests located near our manufacturing facility. These materials have been used for millennia to create alpine houses and have shown themselves to be tough and durable in a harsh environment. We have evolved a process using Modern Manufacturing Methods to create extremely well engineered prefabricated modules in our state of the art factory. These modules can then be transported to the client site and erected in a few days. Typically, our houses can go from concept and design to completion in less than 12 months – a significant improvement on traditional construction methods. 

We believe your house should be free from the harmful chemicals which have become the norm in standard building practices. Climate Change mitigation has placed a focus on the energy consumption of buildings. New builds must deliver significant energy efficiency improvements. Traditional house design and construction methods struggle to meet these standards. All our houses have excellent energy efficiency ratings and we have constructed a number of projects to the Passive House standard. Many clients include PV, Solar Heating and Ground Source heat pumps to further reduce energy consumption. 

You may be surprised to find out that unlike many kit house builders, there is no such thing as a Baufritz style house. Our approach is to design and construct houses which meet our clients’ needs.  As a client you can select a shell project, where Baufritz deliver and construct walls and roof, or decide on a full turnkey solution, where all aspects of your build are managed by our in house teams. 

We have a well recognised apprentice scheme where we are training the next generation of craftspeople and designers without gender prejudice. We believe in supporting our local community and our network of crafts people include local suppliers. A number of our clients come to us with mobility challenges, and we design our interiors and access to support wheelchairs and physical impairment.
