Townhouse renovated by Janet Street-Porter, featuring Elton John's purple kitchen, hits market for £3.75m
Rocket Man's recipe for success: Janet Street-Porter's former home with Elton John's purple kitchen hits the market
Fog House, a distinctive Clerkenwell townhouse, has captured attention with its celebrity-infused history and vibrant interiors, including a kitchen gifted by music icon Elton John.
TV personality Janet Street-Porter renovated the home based in Clerkenwell Close, London, before she turned to her pop star friend for help with the kitchen.
Now the property is on the market for £3.75 million and we take a tour through the other eclectic elements, which include green and blue bathrooms and an upside-down design.
Janet Street-Porter gets a Little Help from Her Friend
Janet Street-Porter enlisted the help of architect David Adjaye in 2002 to transform the former warehouse into a five-story residence before reportedly running out of money in her budget when it came to renovating the kitchen.
She then turned to her friend Elton John for assistance. John promptly donated his own kitchen, featuring eye-catching lavender cabinetry and steel countertops.
The kitchen-dining area sits on the top floor with glazed walls and three rooflights allowing for maximum daylighting and views of St John's Square.
Janet renovated and then sold the home to the current owners in 2016.

Green and blue bathrooms add to colour scheme
The bold colour choices extend beyond the kitchen with the bathrooms also donning distinctive green and blue colours.
Reflecting Street-Porter’s eclectic taste the residence incorporates colour-blocked storage units and monochromatic bathrooms in vivid hues of blue and green.
The townhouse, aptly named Fog House for its privacy-focused design by Adjaye, boasts interiors characterised by bold colour choices and innovative spatial planning.
Upside-down design with bedrooms on lower floors
The layout includes a striking upside-down arrangement with bedrooms on the two lower floors and gyms and living areas on the middle and upper floors.
The property’s rich history, combined with its unique design elements and celebrity ties, positions it as a rare find in London’s competitive real estate market.
Sophie McCarthy, Partner for the listing agent, Knight Frank, said: “This extraordinary house has been beautifully designed, with abundant natural light and versatile living spaces across its five floors. From its dramatic double-height entrance, expansive top-floor reception and entertaining space, to its tranquil views over St James' Church gardens, it's a very special home in one of Clerkenwell's best locations.”
The home is for sale for £3.75 million by Knight Frank.
