Octopus Energy and Aira launch heat pump tariff claimed to save up to £500 a year
The heat pump tariff is said to be £500 cheaper than a gas boiler tariff due to a 51% discounted rate applied eight hours a day
Aira, in partnership with Octopus Energy, has launched two new energy tariffs to counter energy price rises for customers using Aira heat pumps.
Aira Zero allows Aira heat pump customers to save up to £500 annually on energy bills compared to a gas boiler, the company claims.
The tariff includes eight hours each day at a 51% discounted rate compared to the local day rate.
What is a heat pump tariff?
A heat pump tariff offers cheaper unit rates for homeowners with heat pumps, as well as offering reductions in rates during specific times of the day.
They can lower bills by ensuring homeowners benefit at times when renewable output is high, or when there is lower demand on the electricity grid.
Aira claims households with an Aira Heat Pump can save up to 33% on their energy costs through the Aira Zero tariff and up to 44% on energy costs when adding solar panels and Aira Solar Export tariff.
Tariff allows eight hours of energy a day at 51% discount
A total of eight hours of the day will operate at a 51% discounted rate compared to the local day rate.

Aira and Octopus claim this tariff can save customers a total of up to £1245 on their yearly energy bills, and is available on a fixed or flex rates. The fixed rate allows homes to automatically benefit from selling back surplus electricity to the grid at a fixed rate of 15p/kWh for every unit
The flexed rate allows customers to sell surplus solar powered electricity back to the grid when wholesale prices are high for even greater savings.
How can you qualify?
You need to own one of Aira’s air source heat pumps to switch to Aira Zero. The company claims homeowners can save up to 33% on their energy costs through the Aira Zero tariff and up to 44% on energy costs when adding solar panels and Aira Solar Export tariff.
Kaj af Kleen, Aira Chief Product and Technology Officer, said: “At Aira, our mission is to take Europe off gas by accelerating the electrification of home heating, and this strategic partnership with Octopus Energy is another step forward for the clean energy transition.
“We’re proud to be driving this mission forward together and saving people more money with clean energy tariffs. Aira Intelligence’s native integration with the tariff allows us to manage the heat pump optimisation seamlessly, offering customers maximum cost savings and complete peace of mind.
“We're excited to continue on this path, expanding our ecosystem further and developing future collaborations to bring more clean energy-tech solutions to the market."
