Michelle Keegan admits she ‘cried’ at seeing self build Essex mansion finally finished
Michelle claims she gets "emotional" thinking about all the work the pair have put into building their house
TV star Michelle Keegan has opened up about bursting into tears when she saw the finished £3.5m renovation of the Essex mansion she shares with husband, Only Way Is Essex celebrity Mark Wright.
The former Coronation Street actor, 36, and Mark, 36, began an ambitious project to build their dream home from scratch over a year ago – and chronicled their progress on Instagram.
She says they made sacrifices to complete the self build Essex property, which they bought in October 2019 as a building plot for £1.3 million.

What’s included in the £35m self build?
Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan’s £35m self build has many contemporary features throughout, including ribbed vases, stone sculptures and twists of gold in both furniture and artworks.
It boasts a large swimming pool that takes inspiration from Ibiza and a home cinema with a ‘C’ shaped 180-degree sofa, complete with scatter cushions and a large wall-mounted TV.
The kitchen has a ‘unique’ marble island and features marble table tops and gold inlays, while the master bedroom has a mechanism under the bed that allows the TV screen to be stored in the structure of the bed. At the push of a button, the flat screen slides vertically out and then tilts to rise horizontally.

Michelle explained she cried as she gets "emotional" thinking about how the pair have “worked really hard” and made “a lot of sacrifices” whilst building the house.
She added: “I missed lots of milestones in my life due to work. Mark went to LA and we spent months apart, which was hard. But, it’s worth it.”
The star said the property also represents financial security “because you never know when all this is going to end”.

‘I was so overwhelmed. I just burst out crying’
During the interview, she began to cry when she recalled coming home after visiting Australia.
She said: “When I walked in, Mark had lit all the candles and… I couldn’t speak for five minutes. He was like, ‘What do you think?’
“I couldn’t find the words to say how I felt, because I was so overwhelmed. I just burst out crying.”
