Green Party co-leader admits having a gas boiler instead of a heat pump in her home
Carla Denyer has been labelled a 'hypocrite' after admitting to not having a heat pump despite her party's staunch pro-heat pump policies
Carla Denyer, co-leader of the Green Party, has drawn criticism after announcing she had a gas boiler instead of a heat pump in her home.
The MP candidate for Bristol Central recently stated she did not currently have a heat pump despite her party's pro-heat pump policies.
Although she said she was planning to install an air source heat pump, this has not prevented her from receiving criticism online after some claimed "hypocrisy" due to having a boiler "she’s telling the rest of us to ditch".
Denyer 'in the process' of getting a heat pump
Ms Denyer stated she did not yet have a heat pump but is planning to install one after the general election.
As part of the ITV’s The Leader Interviews Ms Denyer stated: “At the moment I have a gas boiler and I’m literally in the process of getting quotes for replacing it with an air source heat pump.
“I’ve had to put that on pause during the general election as you can imagine, but I, yeah, literally have quotes in my email inbox.”
Co-leader's gas boiler contradicts her party's policies
Enough is enough. We need an emergency energy plan.Renewables, insulation, heat pumps, energy saving measures, higher benefits for those falling into fuel poverty.Right now. Not a long term plan. Not 'by the end of this Parliament'. Not next year. Right now.August 4, 2022
The Green Party have said they will campaign to change building regulations so that all house builders must include “low carbon heating systems such as heat pumps” in all new homes.

'It’s only a climate emergency for you!'
Ms Denyer has draw criticism online for not installing a heat pump with some claiming it is "hypocrisy" for her to lead a party calling for others to ditch their gas boilers.
Matt Western Labour Candidate for Warwick & Leamington said on his X account: "I’ve had an air source heat pump for 13 years, installed before 4 General Elections …indeed before I was in politics.. Think that makes me…greener than the Greens?"
GBNews Presenter and Daily Mail Consultant Editor Andrew Pierce said on X: "Green Party leader @carla_denyer admits she’s got a gas fired boiler she’s telling the rest of us to ditch. Course she has"
@Artemisfornow also posted: "Hypocrisy from the Greens. Carla Denyer Climate ‘emergency’ activist admits she has a planet destroying …gas boiler. Despite the subsidies available for installing an air source heat pump. Ahhh…. It’s always the same, it’s only a climate emergency for you!"
