Gavin and Stacey star's former home on the market after extensive renovation
The childhood home of actor, writer, and producer Ruth Jones on the Porthcawl sea front is available for £549,950
The former home of a star from hit TV show Gavin And Stacey is up for sale – and it’s a fantastic example of what to do when renovating a house.
Ruth Jones, the acclaimed actor, comedian, and who co-wrote and starred in the successful BBC series Gavin and Stacey as Nessa Jenkins, lived in the property in Porthcawl on the south coast of Wales.
The six-bedroom property is located a short walk of Porthcawl seafront and promenade, as well as the town centre.
Bought and renovated by Ruth’s childhood friend
It was bought and renovated by the actor’s childhood friend Paula, who leapt at the chance when it came on the market and sold everything at her previous property to pay for the house renovation costs
She told Wales Online: "We used to play together when we were very young - we lived opposite and I used to come over and play.
“We sold our last property with everything down to the cutlery and dishes. It would be perfect as an Airbnb too as we also purchased additional land at the back for several cars which is rare so near to the seafront in Porthcawl."
Some of the renovations include an open plan kitchen that has a matching range of fitted walls and base units with wooden working surfaces with upstands and incorporates a wooden breakfast bar area.

The lounge features a uPVC double glazed bay window fitted with Roman blinds and a window bench seating area, as well as original Herringbone flooring.
Hot tub, fireplace, and outdoor bar all added
The south-westerly facing rear garden has a large outdoor stone fireplace with barbeque – which can replaced to accommodate alternative fireplace ideas – a log cabin with power, TV connections, and lighting and is used as a bar area.
There is also a hot tub and access into the rear lane, where a parcel of land has been purchased by the current owners to provide off-road parking for up to four cars.
Paula added: "We feel this house is so very special as we can walk on the seafront within minutes and the beach has been our children's playground for many years and we have a perfect sunny garden having added a hot tub, fireplace and outdoor bar to enjoy the evening glass of wine.”
Seafront property available for £549,950
The renovated seafront property has been put up for sale for an asking price of £549,950 with Thompsons Estate Agents.
The home also includes a balcony with sea views and easy access to Porthcawl sea front and promenade.
